Atte Aitkoski
Specialist in Gastroenterology
I am an experienced specialist in gastroenterology and have worked in the field since 2014. I specialise in the diagnostics, treatment and follow-up of gastrointestinal diseases. My interests include the treatment of inflammatory bowel diseases, ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease.
Gastrointestinal endoscopies, in other words, gastroscopies and colonoscopies, are another major area of my professional interest. I am particularly familiar with colonoscopy related to colorectal cancer screening and the procedures involved in it. The most important goal for me is to ensure a patient-friendly procedure that is as safe as possible and meets the highest quality criteria required for intestinal endoscopy.

Scientific activities
I am a dissertation worker in a study starting in autumn 2024, examining control endoscopies after cancer screening endoscopies, their findings and the effect of the quality of the endoscopy on the findings.
Biography
Atte Aitkoski specialises in the diagnostics and treatment of gastrointestinal diseases. I am particularly specialised in inflammatory bowel diseases, their treatment and follow-up, as well as, for example, post-operative problems with the J pouch in IBD patients.
Aitkoski’s strong expertise also includes endoscopic examinations of the stomach and intestines. He has gained in-depth knowledge of the identification of mucosal changes and their removal by performing procedures in a high-quality and patient-friendly manner. Atte Aitkoski graduated as a specialist in gastroenterology in 2021 and has since worked at both Tampere University Hospital and Central Finland Hospital Nova. Atte will start his work at Docrates in the summer of 2024 and aims to provide excellent, high-quality care for patients coming to the clinic based on real-time care guidelines. Atte has also worked in the pharmaceutical industry in 2022, gaining information about the latest medicines for the treatment of IBD.
